The Ferrari of Footwear

The Ferrari of Footwear literally speaking. This design mirrors the architectural silhouette of a Ferrari. Its Space Age inspired design paired with glistening metallic leathers and extraordinary almond shaped toe box. All you have to do is put a pair on to empower the world.

Raphael Young is the extraordinary talent behind the Ferrari of Footwear. Young was first inspired to design shoes at the tender age of 14 after attending his first haute couture show. Trained under his uncle Alexandre Narcy, who was the head of Yves Saint Laurent's shoe studio for 40 years, he even received some key advice from Mr. Laurent himself: "keep it simple." He went on to work at various design houses in Italy, including Gianmarco Lorenzi, before starting his own line.

These days, Young pays close attention to balance, proportion and physics as he handcrafts his own wooden lasts and sole materials, as a result: Unequivocally Comfortable Footwear!

These are more than a pair of shoes, they are the Ferrari of Footwear.

The New York Times reports that model Naomi Sims died on Saturday at age 61. The cause of death was cancer.

After five years, Naomi Sims retired from modeling and started a multimillion-dollar wig-making business that specialized in designs for Black Women. Sims also penned at least five books on beauty and modeling.

Sims was considered the "First Black Supermodel" for appearing on the cover of Ladies Home Journal in November 1968, a time when African-American models were few and far between. She subsequently modeled for designers like Halston, Fernando Sánchez, Teal Traina, and Giorgio di Sant'Angelo. She also appeared on many other magazine covers, and two images-- a 1969 cover of LIFE and a 1967 New York Times fashion magazine cover--are on display in the Metropolitan Museum's "The Model As Muse" exhibit.

HOLLYWOOD FARMERS MARKET

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I had a great time with great friends. As a business owner often time you wear many hats and sometimes neglect to nurture the people that are important. This weekend I powered off the mac and spent saturday and sunday with great friends. Saturday went hiking for 3 hours in Griffith Park then my friend prepared lunch (pesto chicken and wheat pasta and red stripe beer) YUMMY. Topped it off by watching documentary about Nelson Mandela. Sunday met my best friend for coffee then to Hollywood Farmers Market. I ran into my friend who is a fabulous, fashion -forward, world traveler A. Jade and her adorable friend. I LOVE the boots she wore at the farmers market. She got them in Barcelona see have a look.

Long Legs & High-Heels

Long Legs and High-heels is my thought as I browse the French Magazine, GHUBAR. I stumbled upon the Summer Issue online and noticed how passionate the photographer captures fashion, beauty and Street life in Paris. Not surprisingly the image to the left captures my attention because of the long legs and Casadei high-heels. I LOVE Casadei heels, they are by far the most comfortable and luxurious heels I own.

Want To Be a Woman In Heels

Reading this article about Diane von Furstenberg's on nytimes dot com for the 14th time has me in deep thought about the woman I want to be. "I wanted to be a certain kind of woman, I became that kind of a woman" DVF. In my many lifetimes, can I make that statement and own it? Can you? So I proceed to journal a list titled "the woman I want to be"
  1. a kind woman
  2. a loving woman
  3. a giving woman
  4. an open woman (note to self;expect the unexpected)
  5. a business woman in high-heels
What kind of woman you want to be?
